Don't be a
passenger.
The Cybercab is coming. Will you be an owner, or be taken for a ride?
Build your owner profile
Nobody’s driving. But somebody owns it.
Cybercab is Tesla’s purpose-designed, two-seat driverless taxi, with no steering wheel or pedals. The idea is simple: it carries paying passengers while its owner runs the business.
Every driverless vehicle would be an asset on somebody’s balance sheet. If individual ownership opens, could one belong on yours? Prepare now: understand the costs, the work and how you might fund it.
Run the numbers.
Set the hours and the fare. Explore what could be left after running costs and finance, and which assumptions could turn a profit into a loss.
Pop the hood
Illustration only, not a forecast or financial advice. Ownership terms, network fees, insurance and prices remain uncertain. Results could be lower, including a loss. No income is promised.

Riders pay. Owners collect.
Tesla's software drives. The owner buys the vehicle, decides where and when it works, pays for insurance, charging, cleaning and repairs, and keeps whatever is left after Tesla's share and those costs. Nobody has published Tesla's share or the full terms for independent owners yet.

A machine that works the hours nobody wants.
The average privately owned vehicle is parked about 95% of the time. It's one of the most expensive things most people own, and it does nothing most of the day.6

The best assets never clock off.
A driverless vehicle flips that. Every hour it isn't parked is an hour it can earn, and the owner's job is to find the hours that pay best: the airport run at five, the bar crowd at one, the hospital shift change.

You want one. But not for yourself.
Most vehicles are designed around a driver. This one was designed around a business, and it shows in how it's made.
Designed to earn, not to be driven.
Built in big sections at once.
Tesla's "unboxed" process builds the front, rear and floor in parallel and joins them once, instead of building a vehicle up piece by piece.
Colour moulded into the panels.
The outer panels are coloured plastic rather than painted metal, so there's no paint shop, and a scratch shows the same gold underneath.
About half the parts of a Model 3.
That's according to Tesla's lead engineer on the project. Fewer parts means less to go wrong.
Cameras, not a roof of sensors.
Tesla relies on cameras rather than the bulky spinning sensors of earlier robotaxis, which is a big part of how it aims to keep the price down.
Designed to charge itself.
It's built for wireless charging pads, so it can top up with nobody there to plug it in.

The vehicle drives. You run the show.
So is it passive income? Half right. The vehicle drives itself, but the business doesn't. Decides where and when it works. Keeps it clean, charged and insured. Handles the paperwork, or pays someone who will.

A new local hero.
Having said that, if you've ever driven for a ride app, rented out a vehicle, managed a team or simply know your local streets, you're starting closer than you think.

Make lenders see a business.
It's the record of you as an owner and operator, built from your Owner Profile, your level of learning and what you can show about running vehicles or a business.

The rules are being written.
You don't need a vehicle today to get started. What will count is understanding the numbers, getting your finances in order and being ready to move.
Your path from interested to prepared.
- 01Tell us what kind of owner you want to be.
Build your Owner Profile. Then we’ll work out how to support and prepare you.
- 02Get matched with lenders.
If suitable financing becomes available, we aim to introduce you to lenders. Intermission is an introducer, not a lender; you choose whether to proceed.
- 03Decide whether it works for you.
Review the ownership terms, costs and any finance offer before committing.
FAQ

Are you part of Tesla?
No. Intermission is an independent broker, not affiliated with or endorsed by Tesla.
What does a Cybercab cost?
It is expected to cost under $30,000.7 On that price, a 15% deposit is about $4,500 and a lender would finance the remaining $25,500. However, no final price has been published.
What will I earn?
That depends on fares, hours on the road, charging, insurance and your loan terms. Try running the numbers above, to see what’s possible before you commit. Note that nothing shown here is a promise of income.
How big could this get?
Do you lend the money?
No. We’re an independent introducer, not a lender. If suitable finance becomes available, we aim to introduce you to lenders. You choose whether to proceed.
When could I own one?
Nobody can say for certain yet. It depends on production and on approval where you live, and we'll keep you posted as both move.
Do I need to live in a particular city?
Driverless services launch city by city, subject to local approval. Your profile tells us where you are, so we can tell you what applies there.
How do you get paid?
Our intended model is to receive an introduction fee from a lender if you take finance through us. Any applicable fee arrangements would be explained before you proceed.
Does signing up commit me to anything?
No. Signing up is market research only. We take no money and make no offers.
Be ready when the terms arrive.
Signing up early shows lenders where the demand is.
